The covered walkway looked so pretty so I took a picture of it. It's the same covered structure on the photo before it above.Gigi A.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15115989455609909640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6602861399588564140.post-21356787430728104462018-06-05T09:24:52.417-04:002018-06-05T09:24:52.417-04:00Could someone please help me determine the exact l...Could someone please help me determine the exact location of one of the structures shown above? There is a shot of what looks like a covered walkway..concrete pavement, concrete block columns, then wood framed roof structure, possibly metal handrails along sides. Cannot seem to locate in 2018 on google earth, so likely demolished by now. The reason is I found a photo from about 1958 of me at age 5 visiting an as yet unidentified plane with my mom which was apparently flown by a friend of my parents. Was trying to determine if photo was at Roosevelt, Mitchel, or Floyd Bennet. After hours of research I noticed that behind me in the shot was a blurry image of what looks very much like that covered walkway. Would greatly appreciate any help here, and I may actually go so far as to inquire of the rangers station on site if necessary. Thanks much in advance! Hopefully, I can go back again and take another tour on a different date, would be great to see other parts of the area I wasn't able to explore the previous time I was there.

Thank you Kim!Gigi A.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15115989455609909640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6602861399588564140.post-17488571089636675922016-08-10T13:08:04.049-04:002016-08-10T13:08:04.049-04:00We learn something new each day! The building is currently closed to the public, but it reopens on June 23rd! :)

I recommend it, if you have any interest in aircraft or military history. The two times I went there, I got a tour from an actual veteran (a senior citizen) who either worked on military aircraft or flew them (sorry, I can't remember which). So, if you have a choice between a park ranger, or an old veteran for the tour, definitely pick the veteran! :)

Historic Aircraft Restoration
Project Tours
Floyd Bennett Field - Hangar B
Daily 1 pm – 2 pm (beginning June 23)
Join a Park Ranger for a tour of Floyd Bennett Field’s historic aircraft collection, and learn about their role in the field’s rich aviation history.Arya.asoiafhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07693357384011660043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6602861399588564140.post-30442062548212115352016-05-24T19:03:19.034-04:002016-05-24T19:03:19.034-04:00What you have identified as a "water tower&qu...What you have identified as a "water tower" that looks like a "soccer ball" is actually a doppler weather radar tower. http://www.rockawave.com/news/2003-02-15/Front_Page/004.html

Thank you! :)Arya.asoiafhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07693357384011660043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6602861399588564140.post-15358492102583767012015-01-27T15:43:28.692-05:002015-01-27T15:43:28.692-05:00Thank you Arthur! Or camp bus rode over the Marine Parkway Bridge. It was an exciting way to start the camp day. Our family also used to swim at Riis Park during the summers, though not as often as Coney Island. Great photos. Glad to see the areas are being used for parks and recreation. Bought me back to the days of my youth. I'm 70 years old now and live in the Miami area.
